The Hiniu Chain Stopper with Locking Arm and optional Devil Claw are essential to safe anchoring. Correct anchoring procedure calls for no direct loading of the windlass while at anchor or
underway. For most vessel sizes there is no better way to achieve this requirement than the chain-stopper devil’s claw combination.
While Underway
The devil claw attaches itself firmly to the chain, exerting tension to keep it in place while the anchor is stored. This added tension ensures a secure hold, even in challenging conditions. When
not needed, the devil claw can be effortlessly detached or positioned aside, allowing for flexibility in its usage.
On Anchor
While at anchor the locking paw on the chain stopper is engaged on the anchor chain ensuring no load on the windlass. This is essential for safe overnight anchoring as excessive load on the
windlass can cause structural damage to the windlass or your vessel. It can also lead to slippage of the gypsy potentially leading to a runaway chain.
